Altus Kiwanians Support Coats for Kids Program.
The Altus Kiwanis Club is proud to support the Altus Fire Department's Coats for Kids program. The program is in it's 12th year and has the purpose of collecting donations for the purchase of new coats, as well as the collection and cleaning of good used coats for distribution to needy children in the Altus area who might not otherwise have a good, warm coat for the winter months.
Chief Wheeler said that the Salvation Army distributes the coats to needy Altus children on Christmas Day. Altus Cleaners also helps out by cleaning the used coats that are received so they'll be ready when distributed to the children.
